The short version

Global is an informational map of things happening in the world. It is not an emergency service. We do not own most of what it shows, and we do not control the radio stations or the social posts it lists. You can block and report anything you see, and we act on reports.

Not an emergency service

Global does not replace official warnings, evacuation orders, or emergency broadcasts. Hazard data reaches us minutes to hours after an event, and sometimes not at all. Notifications are retrospective by design: they tell you something already happened. Do not make a safety decision on what this app shows. Follow your local emergency authority.

Where the information comes from

Hazard data comes from public agencies including the United States Geological Survey, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NASA, and the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System. Radio station listings come from Radio Browser, a public-domain community database. Social posts come from public Mastodon timelines. We do not author any of it, we cannot guarantee it is accurate or current, and agencies revise and withdraw their own data.

Radio and social content

Station listings and social posts are third-party content that Carat International does not create, control, endorse, or continuously monitor. A station appearing in Global is not a recommendation of it.

Every station and every post can be blocked from inside the app, immediately, without asking us. Every one can also be reported. Reports reach a person, and we review them. Where a report is upheld, the station or account is added to a list that every copy of the app applies, so one person's report protects everyone.

You may not use Global to harass anyone, to report things falsely at volume, or to attempt to have lawful content removed in bad faith. We may ignore reports from a device that does this.

What you may not do

Do not present Global's data as an official warning. Do not scrape or resell the data it displays; most of it belongs to the agencies named above and carries their own terms. Do not attempt to disrupt the service or the third-party services it reads from.

Age

Global is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 to use it. Because it surfaces unfiltered third-party radio and public social posts, it may show content that is not suitable for younger users.

No warranty, and the limit of our liability

Global is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent the law allows, Carat International LLC is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the information it shows, including any decision made or not made during an emergency.

Changes

We will update these terms when the app changes. The date at the top is the version in force.
